Welcome to Mt. Vernon Elementary School

      mt vernon school revised 1:

Mt. Vernon School is a dynamic, multifaceted program that focuses on the whole child.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Our vision is to provide an effective school environment where the study of traditional academics and study in the arts are given mutual respect and merge to provide enrichment and acceleration of academic, aesthetic and artistic excellence. We maintain that our climate demonstrates an unconditional positive regard for students, staff, and community. We believe with a rich relevant program, all children can learn, experience a joy for learning and become life-long learners. Finally, we believe that teamwork involving parents, staff, students, and community is vital to student success. We believe that:

  • Knowledge empowers students.
  • Learning is a life-long pursuit.
  • A sense of belonging is essential to students’ well being.
  • A student’s potential is unlimited.
  • Education is our highest priority.
  • All students should be prepared to participate in a multi-cultural society.
  • All decisions should be made based upon the best interests of the students.
  • All activities, programs and efforts will support, respect, and empower students.
  • Parents are the child’s first and foremost teacher.
  • Parents should be kept informed of their child’s progress.
  • Parents should be integrated into the educational process.
  • All staff should model the behaviors and attitudes we expect from students.
